History

Cambridge House is widely recognisable today as a purpose built student accomodation, officially approved by the university as a reputable student residence. However, the building housing these rooms has rich history dating well before the development of these student rooms.

The title deeds for the property list the prior owners as Q.M.C. Indsustrial Research Limited, Queen Mary University of London's [...] setup in the 1960s.

The title deeds for the property list the prior owners as Q.M.C. Indsustrial Research Limited, Queen Mary University of London's (originally known as Queen Mary college at the time) tech transfer organisation setup in the 1960s. This organisation was responsible for handling the commercialisation of academic research developed from QMUL's School of Physics and Astronomy during the 60s and 70s.

In 2001, QMC Industrial Research Ltd. was relocated to Cardiff University, where it retains it's a reference to it's original owners and is known as QMC Instruments Ltd. QMC Instruments is known today for their work in terahertz systems.
